L'ÉTANG, the house in Burgundy
The romantic former farmhouse has about 180 m2 of living space and the property is about 1100 m2 in size.
On the raised ground floor (the house has a partial basement) there is the kitchen (with refrigerator, oven, induction stove, dishwasher, custom-made built-in furniture), a living-dining room with a large fireplace, a recently renovated bathroom with bathtub, toilet, washing machine, and a guest room with direct access to the outside.
A wooden staircase leads to the 1st floor with a spacious living/study room, two bedrooms and a bathroom with shower and toilet.
A small, free-standing annex in the garden can be used as a studio (two sheds are also available).
The property borders in part on agricultural land.
It owes its name L'Étang to the pond that belongs to the old mill on the adjacent property, which is currently being restored.

Vicinity
Burgundy is famous for its wines (the wine villages are to the north; Beaune, Nuits-Saint-Georges etc. can be reached in 1 to 1.5 hours). Burgundy is also famous for its white Charolais cattle, which graze in the pasture next to the house.
In addition to the lovely landscape, cultural treasures can be visited and admired
like the remains of the
- Cluny Cathedral,
- the well-preserved Cluniac cathedral of Paray-le-Monial,
- Autun, the city founded by Emperor Augustus about a decade before the Common Era.
Beaune with its Hôtel-Dieu and the winged altarpiece by Rogier van der Weyden is worth a visit .
Not to be forgotten is Dijon with its sights, or even closer the Cormatin Castle with its gardens. A visit to Bourg-en-Bresse and Brou is also recommended.
From the TGV station Le Creusot-Montceau-les-Mines-Montchanin you can reach Paris or Lyon in just over an hour.
In addition to culture, there are also shopping opportunities a few kilometers from the house: several supermarkets in Gourdon, Saint-Vallier and Montceau-les-Mines, where a market is also held on Saturdays.
The Canal du Centre, which flows through Montceau-les-Mines, was once used for the transport of goods, but is now used for tourism.
The area is also ideal for hiking and WW walks.
Why do we sell?
We, two Swiss women, are selling the house because we are getting on in years and one of us has emigrated. It is not easy for us to give up the charm of this house and we would like to keep it in good hands.
We bought the house furnished over 20 years ago, replaced and added furniture, and renovated many things in and around the house over the years. It is being sold as it is today, including all furnishings.
We will of course organize a viewing for serious interested parties.
The price of CHF 390,000.-- includes furnishings.
